To Be Continued...

As some people have told me that they've liked the blog I might continue writing. But you gotta tell me what subjects you want to me to talk about because I don't think that you people like or even know most of the musicians I'm gonna talk about...so if it is not so difficult for you...you could tell me your opinions in a comment or something, you know.
Well, see you.
(If you do not say anything I won't write!(or I'll write about something that you don't like!))

Why am I writing in English?

BLUES

Blues is one of my favourite music styles. I think it's a very beautiful and emotive way of playing music.

Its name comes from the expression of "having the blues", which means "to be sad or depressed". This music genre was created by the Afro-american communities in the United States.

It is characterized by the use of the blue note and specific chord progressions.
We'll talk about some of the most important bluesmen.

ERIC CLAPTON

He is one of the best guitarists in the world, he is also a singer and a compositor. He first was in a band called The Yardbirds, later with John Mayall and The Bluesbreakers... and lots of other bands he formed or he joined in. Finally he started his solo career where he's had success.

Most important songs:

  • Layla

  • Tears In Heaven

  • Wonderful Tonight

  • Nobody Knows You When You're Down And Out

  • Running On Faith

  • Cocaine

  • Change The World

  • Old Love

  • Lonely Stranger

  • Lay Down Sally

GARY MOORE

He's a very well-known guitarist and a singer too. He has played with Thin Lizzy, B.B.King, Skid Row, etc. He has some very good songs which have become classics when playing blues guitar.

Some songs:

  • Still Got The Blues
  • I Can't Wait Until Tomorrow
  • Too Tired
  • Midnight Blues
  • Always Gonna Love You
  • Texas Blues
  • Long Grey Mare
  • All Your Love

Rock, rock...Where have you gone? Why have you left us?

Rock, rock...

I'm surprised that everything's called rock. The most popular rock band nowadays is: Jonas Brothers. How can anybody say that Jonas Brothers are a rock band? They just aren't. It's completely the opposite. I suppose is cooler to say, "I play rock" than saying, "I play comercial pop". So everybody listens to rock. Ok, let's see it.

As rock is a style very influenced from rock'n'roll, we'll talk first about rock'n'roll. I'm sure each and everyone of you have listened to bands like:

THE BEATLES

They were formed in Liverpool in 1960. The group consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Star.

I gotta say that they played pop too. Maybe beacause of that, the Beatlemania appeared.

I personally love some of its classics, they are a part of our lives.

  • Yesterday
    Let it be

  • Yellow Submarine

  • Here comes the sun

  • Hey Jude

  • Help!

  • Can't buy me love

  • A hard day's night

  • Penny Lane

  • Get Back

THE ROLLING STONES

Who were better, the rolling stones or the beatles?
It depends on you, I guess.
The Rolling Stones were "the rebel one's". Those which no father would like his son to listen to. Their lyrics talked about sex, drugs...and obviously, rock'n'roll.
The Beatles were completely different. Nice lyrics, nice pop songs which have inspirated generations of new artists, etc.

They were formed in 1962 in London. The former members were Brian Jones, Ian Stewart, Dick Taylor, Mick Taylor and Bill Wymam. They finally were, Mick Jagger (vocals), Keith Richards (guitar), Ronnie Wood (guitar and bass), Charlie Watts (drums).

Some songs:

  • It's only rock'n'roll (but I like it)

  • Slipping away

  • Angie

  • Beast of Burden

  • Streets of love

  • Satisfaction

  • Brown Sugar

  • Wild Horses

  • Sympathy for the Devil

ELVIS PRESLEY

Well, everybody knows this man. The king of rock'n'roll. He was a great singer. He was influenced from country, blues and gospel music (basically).

He is still earning money today. There are people who think that he isn't dead, they think he pretended to die because he was very famous and stressed and he wanted to stop. Who knows?

Songs:

  • Hound dog

  • Can't Help Falling In Love With You

  • Love Me Tender

  • In the Ghetto

  • Suspicious Minds

  • Jailhouse Rock

  • Stuck On You

CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL (CCR)

It was a popular american band in the 1960s and 1970s. The group consisted of John Fogerty, Tom Fogerty, Stu Cook and Doug Clifford. They basically played rock'n'roll.

They became very famous due to songs like:

  • Proud Mary

  • Have You Ever Seen The Rain?

  • Bad Moon Rising

  • Long As I Can See The Light

  • Green River

  • Fortunate Son

I'd like to add so many other bands but there are a lot! And I don't have enough time for everything so, I've talked about the most famous bands even that there should be lots of other people but, you know, it's so difficult. I'll finish talking about rock later.

What am I going to do here?

My intentions are to express my opinions about music, comparing how it is now to what it was before. First thing I should say is that I might not be the best person to criticize any of this music and I don't want to hurt anyone with my opinions which are sometimes too radical.
I will recommend some music that I listen to and that I like a lot, and I hope all of you end loving it as much as I do!

My latest craze

Hello world!
I'm Sofia and I'm from Spain and this is my English homework. The thing is that I have to write about something I really love and my teacher is going to correct it. By the way, I think it's a great idea. So let's start.
